Notes |
Aimee Grant is an Autistic, Dyslexic and Disabled health researcher. She comes from a working class background. Previously a keen runner, in 2017, her health deteriorated significantly and she became an ambulatory wheelchair user, occasionally using a rollator (a walking frame on wheels). Her diagnoses include fibromyalgia and a systemic allergy condition called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), which makes her allergic to perfume, cleaning products and air fresheners.
She had worked evaluating services in the NHS (Public Health Wales), and as an academic based in a large medical school and a clinical trials unit. Her research is mostly focused on improving health and social services available to marginalised pregnant women and mothers. She holds a part-time civil service research role along side, and separate to, her work as a writer. |
