We are an evolutionary biology lab. We tackle questions related to adaptation, speciation, and population genetics. Right now, our focus is on the genetics of environmental adaptation. There are many species that are able to live in drastically different environments. Our goal is to understand how those species have been so successful, everything from traits that affect survivorship and reproduction in different environments to the specific genetic changes underlying those traits. We code, we do benchwork, and we like to get out in the field once in a while. Our current favorite study system in the house mouse, Mus musculus, but we are branching out into local marine taxa including striped bass. We have just started collaborations to use eDNA to learn more about our local waterways. Mice |
