I am from Malaysia and did my undergrad and Master's in the USA. I worked in vaccine development in a biotech startup for several years which was then purchased by a multinational Big Pharma company. I later decided to go back to school to get my PhD and moved to South Africa for this. So I think I have a range of experience that's somewhat unusual for an early-career lab biologist.
